Fuel tank cleaning and gas freeing
Cleaning and gas freeing contaminated petrol, oil, diesel and other types of fuel tanks requires dedication
to safety and experience and David Plumb
& Co will determine methods of working to suit
each individual set of circumstances.
Prior to commencement of any operation, all fuel is removed
and pipelines drained. The tank is temporarily inerted,
either with a nitro-foam inerting process or by water filling.
All services undertaken by David Plumb
& Co are professionally managed. The Company
has the expertise and experience to enable petrol, diesel, oil, and other types of storage
tanks to be re-used, repaired, decontaminated or decommissioned safely and
efficiently.
Cleaning is the most environmentally friendly method of
making redundant tanks safe and is more cost-effective than
alternative ways of decommissioning, such as filling tanks
with hydrophobic foam.
All work is carried out by fully trained and experienced
staff at David Plumb & Co
who on completion of the work, issue gas-test certificates
in accordance with current regulations.
Projects are undertaken in strict compliance with all current
health, safety and environmental regulations required by
The Petroleum Officer, HSE and Environment Agency. All residues
and washings are disposed of safely under ‘Duty of Care’
or Section 62 Notifications.
In situations where a redundant fuel tank is to be removed, we can ensure
that it is fully exposed and inerted, so that a large opening
can be cold cut in the top. This opening facilitates cleaning
and gas-freeing that prevents any build-up of flammable
gases during the removal.
