Solid filled fuel tanks
Where solid filled fuel tanks are in the way of future
development or underground storage tanks simply cannot be removed,
David Plumb & Co has the expertise and experience to help with
their decommissioning.
Solid filling of redundant fuel tanks
In cases where redundant petrol, oil, diesel or other types of fuel tanks must be made permanently
safe, but it is not practicable or cost-effective to remove them,
David Plumb & Co opens up and solid fills these underground
storage tanks using slurry filling or other approved materials and techniques.
Existing surface covers can either be replaced or the manhole
chambers made good to ground level, after ensuring that these
redundant fuel tanks and underground storage tanks have been safely
decommissioned.
Removal of previously solid filled fuel tanks
David Plumb & Co often use air
driven cutting tools to safely cold cut and open underground storage
tanks. This technique was developed and perfected by the Company in
order that fill material can be disposed of safely.
In situations where it is not practicable to remove the solid
fill tank, this cold cutting method enables whole sections to be cut
from the tank.
