Nitro-foam inerting
David Plumb & Co utilises an
innovative method developed for the inerting of fuel tanks in lieu
of water filling that provides an economical and environmentally
sound solution.
As petrol tanks must be made safe prior to opening them up,
Nitro-foam inerting was designed to positively vent explosive
vapours from the tanks in a controlled and safe manner.
This type of inerting for underground petroleum tanks can be
advantageous when rendering tanks safe for:
- breaking down manhole chambers and exposure of tank tops
- removal of manlids and associated pipework
- temporary inerting prior to cleaning and gas-test certifying
Nitro-foam inerting is cheaper than water filling and subsequent
water disposal, by tanker. It also saves time as it involves only
one operation instead of two and no time delays waiting for
tankers.
With over ten years experience in Nitro-foam inerting, David Plumb & Co uses this method to best
effect, knowing when and where it is the most appropriate method of
inerting.
