Hot and Cold Cutting
On forecourts and other outdoor sites
Cold cutting technique uses a pneumatic tool to safely open up access into tanks. While all tanks we work on will have been made safe by gas-freeing, we take no chances.
Once David Plumb & Co has cold cut its way into a tank and thoroughly cleaned any trace of residual fuel, it can cut up the tanks for ease of handling. This can be done by more cold cutting, hot cutting or a combination of both, depending on individual circumstances.
As conditions or customer requirements dictate, we can remove the tanks from the site whole, excavate them from the ground whole and cut them up for transport, or cut them up in the ground and remove them piece by piece.
This last option is especially useful on sites where tanks have been installed close to retaining walls, enabling us to avoid any structural damage.
Cold cutting can be done by hand or by machine.
From Buildings
David Plumb & Co’s skill in hot and cold cutting has helped it clean and extract central heating system oil tanks, with minimum disruption, from some very tight places with restricted access.
Its experience in this includes Buckingham Palace and many top London hotels.
